Christene Richardson (Donaldson)
Waterdown Ontario
I have good memories of Leith. I lived at Ballantyne Place for 10 years; my Grandmother lived above Cousins pub.
Does anyone remember George's ice cream shop on Junction Bridge? He was a very nice person.
My sister and I would visit him and ask for the empty chocolate boxes that he would display in his window. I would keep my ribbons in them.
My other Grandmother lived at Lochend Park; I can still smell the fresh baked bread from Hawkhill Bakers. I spent many hours in Lochend Park making daisy chains. I also played in Keddie Gardens and would venture into Victoria Park on my summer holidays and play in Inverleith Park. Those were the days kids could play without fear, not like today.
I hope someone out there knows me. I would love to hear from them. Someone out there was asking about paloney; yes I know that word and also faggots but of course you couldn't say that now, it wouldn't be politically correct. Oops just said it:
