Magnus, IN TOTAL AGREEMENT!!!!, The piece of music on the Churches section, is about the only one i can play on the organ. John. The memories JEEZE!! It would be worth it just for the music. That is Brilliant Choices at it best.
If any of you have not a copy on order, don't take my word for it, send as many private e-mails as you like.. The answer will be the same..More importantly, may I say a big thank you to those who spent HOURS putting the C.D. together. The Fit o' the walk, spot on. I bet not one of you will not remember all the music and the places, whether as they are, or as they were. I COULD GO ON ALL NIGHT. MANY THANKS.
Graham

A lot of work has gone into this and will interest all people, young and old. This is a DVD to watch and pass down to your children and grandchildren who hopefully will be watching it in years to come and saying "this is what Leith looked like years ago in 2009"

GREAT! Thoroughly enjoyed it and the music was so fitting. A real professional job! Congratulations to all and thanks for the time spent doing it. One will be passed on to the family here, the other is going to England where I know the hankies will be out!
Braw idea!

Iam John's younger daughter and only spent the first 4 and half years of my life in Leith before we moved out west to Livingston. I only have vague memories of Leith - the swing park, bowling green the shop where I bought my penny chews and my house in Buchanan Street with the back green. By the way, that baby is ME who is hiding behind the louffa in the kitchen sink. I progressed on to the tin bath by the fire.
I have been back to visit on numerous times over the years especially to see my Granny who incidently is 102 years old later this month and things have changed even for me. This fabulous DVD, Im sure will bring back lots of memories to the people who have moved away for one reason or another and let them see just how much Leith has altered. Im so, so proud of my Dad who has spent hours and hours producing this along with my wee brother Alan and his friend Ian Russell.
I dont think there would be any other DVD that would let Old Leithers see the WHOLE of Leith as it is now(well maybe Google Earth BUT that does not have the music or the love and tender care he has put into this) He is always coming up with new ideas to keep his site fresh or to expand - He just cannot sit still for a moment. Im sure if you watch this DVD you will pine for home......

Received today. Started looking at it but as getting late had to put it on slightly fast forward so I could get to bed. Looked good and saw many familiar street names but not necessary familiar streets, though good to see Bonnington Bridge, links etc. Looking forward to going back through at leisure.

Well done again, John. A beautifully packaged gift on the outside and packed full of interesting photos and music. I hope my young nephews and great nephews will enjoy seeing the places where their granddad, great granddad and great, great granddad spent many happy hours. I certainly had a lump in my throat revisiting the braes at the Links, the Baths, the Kirkgate and Newhaven and it was great to see photos o' ma ain folk on DVD. Many thanks for your efforts.

Received my DVD in the mail yesterday. I recommend adding a warning label as, since watching it I have blurry vision, bouts of homesickness and itchy feet.

WOW, WOW, WOW, Let mi catch ma breath. I just received the "Port O' Leith" video, courtesy of big brother, Tom, as a Xmas present. Thank you Tom for a nice Gift and Thought. This video, done by professionals, would most certainly win an Oscar. It will not, as it was done by a 'bunch' of amateurs, who, in my estimation, outdid the pros and came up with an outstanding, amazing, fantastic, realistic portrayal of our Leith.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, if you were born in Leith or have a close friend who was. You must consider purchasing this video. It truly is remarkable and you will be glad that you did. Did ah iver ly ti yi?

Really enjoyed the part of the DVD I saw, and loved the music, but my DVD player is not working properly and halfway through the DVD goes back to the beginning but am looking forward to seeing the rest soon. It was nice to see our church, Leith St Andrew's, at the foot of Easter Road although it said it was Lochend Road Church. At one time it was called Claremont Kirk. Hope you have a happy Christmas and best wishes for 2010.

Well done John and Son, anyone born or brought up in Leith must have this set to watch again and again. I would have liked to see more of Newhaven but I am sure that will come in the future so get started John.
Street after street clearly photographed and some great music to back it up. John you have missed your calling NOW LET THEM TRY AND CALL IT EDINBURGH HARBOUR.
As there is not likely to be anyone in Newhaven with the necessary skills and add to that Granton, you have a lot to get on with. You were lucky not to get arrested whilst out there taking the photos which were sharp and I am sure will bring back many memories.
Thank you , John and Son.
Donald

Yep! Well done, John and Alan! I thoroughly enjoyed taking, under your direction, a number of those photos for your latest project with you earlier this year. To see this DVD and the shear effort you and Alan put in brought a tear or two to my eyes too. I am so pleased I got this chance to show the Oldleithers what their little town by the Water it gave its name to is as it is now.
I will watch this piece of history again and again as inspiration for what we achieved. Thank you so much for teaching me so much as we went along about Leith. You are an encyclopaedia of information and much thought of.
Cheers! Ian
