Oldleither Burgesses Roll of Honour
The above honour is not bestowed lightly.  Rather it is awarded to Oldleither.Com regulars who have shown their loyalty and participation over the years.

Jessie Newlands nee Berry     Recipient for 2009

In so doing they have assisted me in no uncertain terms in keeping Oldleither topical, interesting, and a place to visit.

The latter can be proven by the constant changing Visitor Counter.

As a consequence, it is my pleasure to announce Jessie Newlands nee Berry as the first recipient of this honour.

Jessie, a former Leith Police Woman in the early 1950s was born just to the east side of Leith but spent her adulthood in Easter Road.  She alway apologised for this.

She married Malcolm Newlands in 1958 and before long they emigrated to B.C. Canada.  Before this their son Calum was born. Once in Canada, their daughter Jane came on the scene..

Calum followed in his mum`s footsteps and joined the police force  in Canada.

When Oldleither began in 2001, Jessie was one of the first to log on.  She has never refrained from this to the present day until illness took its toll.  Her husband Malcolm communicated all that was going on to her

Sad to say, Jessie passed away on the 11th January this year (2010)

Graham Whyte                 Recipient for 2010

It is indeed a pleasure in awarding him the second of this honour.

Graham has been a regular contributor to Oldleither for almost five years.  In this time he has regularly been the instigator for various ideas for features on the site.  He has been very supportative in this time and has been very gracious in his monetary support much to my disconcern.

He was instrumental in purchasing the Oldleither caps that were distributed to the Round Table members, and frequently sent on copies of the Sunday Post to Jessie Newlands in Canada.

He gave me monetary support in the DVD project.

The virtual parties that we have held over the years were his idea in the first place.

So you see why I am so very grateful to Graham for all this

Thank you Graham
