Hi John, I came across this snap among my mothers old pics and wondered if you could use it.

I attended Leithy 1944 to 1946 (1B1thru  3B1). (Miss Ponton  was our Form Mistress and English teacher. Dad was in the Royal.Engineers for the duration and was demobbed in '46.  We left Lapicide in '47 and moved to Drylaw (almost in Davidsons Mains).

I served a marine engrs. apprenticeship with Brown Bros. I then sailed with Union Castle /Clan Line until '62 then came ashore to work for Monsanto UK. Was transferred on assignment to Monsanto US in '79 then retired here '98.

The picture shows Dr Mackie 2nd from the front left with our Science teacher on his right (forget his name). The place was Ancrum near Jedburgh.

I`m the small guy in middle front (wearing breeches!) the lad on my  right was my pal George MacDonough; we played for the school cricket

team.
